Worldbuilding - Aquas: Summary

Today I’m rounding up all the information from last week and organizing it! There are a few changes in some places - I’ll bold the new information to make it easier to find. Hit the jump!

Aquas

Almost completely covered with water, the inhabitants of Aquas have long known of the existence of Planeswalkers. Their culture has evolved in strange ways because of this fact.

White mana comes from the Seagrass fields, Blue from the islands, Black from brine pools, Red from submarine volcanoes and hydrothermal vents, and Green from coral reefs.

Races

Merfolk (all colors): The most diverse creatures on Aquas, their culture is omnipresent, and their cities are everywhere. Their culture is divided mostly along color lines. The White merfolk are the cops and peacekeepers, and have developed prisons that can even hold planeswalkers. The Blue merfolk are scholars, focused on mastery of a particular school rather than the eclectic knowledge of the Aven. Black merfolk are merchants and mercenaries, devoted to the pursuit of wealth. Red merfolk tend to be artists, sculpting the lava flows into dynamic sculptures. Green merfolk are beast masters, summoning mighty creatures of the deep to do their bidding.

Kavouri (White Crabs): An orderly race, they take pride in their military strength. Every one of them must serve in the military to be considered an adult. They feel that the incredible power that planeswalkers wield is a threat to their nation, and guard against them diligently. They are masters of Soul magic, making sure their soldiers are the best in the world.

Balena (White/Green Whales): Peaceful and wise, the Balena value endurance and patience. They search for enlightenment by studying the ways of the world, and consider planeswalkers a natural part of the world. They are the wise men of the plane. Their White magic draws from the Soul and Divine schools, while their Green magic is primarily from the Tranquility school.

Aven (Blue): Found only on and around the islands that dot the surface of Aquas, the Aven were the first race to encounter planeswalkers. They are naturally inquisitive, and see themselves as the greatest explorers on the plane. Their knowledge of planeswalkers initially dealt a blow to their ego, but they soon shifted their focus from exploring the boundaries of the world to pushing the limits of what magic can accomplish. This leads to a strange culture where the creativity of a spell is worth more than its use. The Aven congregate in universities, and the greatest honor any could have is attracting the notice of a planeswalker to lecture there.

Cephalids (Black/Red): A creative people, the Cephalids use their natural talent change color of their flesh to become the greatest assassins and dancers on Aquas. Using their skill at Lethemancy and Emotion magic, they can convince anyone to do anything.

Vampires (Black): Barely more intelligent than beasts, the vampires of Aquas are a natural species that is almost entirely under the command of the Cephalids. They are similar to the Vorcha of Mass Effect 2.

Akula (Red/Green Sharks): The ultimate hunters on Aquas, the existence of planeswalkers has not significantly changed how the Akula live. Most of them still live on the fringes of society, believing that the hunt is the ultimate thrill. However, some lash out at the culture that has consumed all of Aquas, and intend to destroy it all. They use some Emotion magic, mostly to incite rage, but mostly use the Red Elemental and Green Beast schools.

Snakes (Green): Filling the role that Elves usually serve, the snakes are the guardians of the coral reefs. Using their deadly venom, they protect the reefs from all who would dare harm them. They use all three schools of Green magic.

I still need a name for the Snakes, and I'm open to different names for the other races.
