Saints and Sinners of Tyranix

Strong in spirit and muscle, the Rhox are the hammer of The Order. Intelligent and practical, Vedalken have long been the driving force behind The Order's magic. However, all things change in time.

Standing up to ten feet tall, the devout Rhox are filled with a righteous fury, serving The Order without question. One of the first races to join The Order, they have always formed the core of its armies. However, they eventually ran out of places to conquer. For a time the Rhox drifted, purposeless. The Kithkin were much more capable at police work, the Archons had become the champions of justice, and the Rhox had never been very skilled at magic.

While they still found joy in crushing the occasional revolt, it wasn't until the prophet [NAMEHERE] appeared. He preached that the Rhox were truly the purest of all creatures and that they should be the spiritual leaders of The Order instead of the Aven, some of whom had fought on the side of Chaos during the Great Crusade. This led to a devastating civil war, which the Rhox narrowly won thanks to the support of the Kithkin and the commoners, who had more experience with the Rhox rather than the distant Aven.. This cemented the Rhox as the leaders of The Order, and marked the beginning of the end for the Aven.

Now the Rhox are at every level of government, controlling all aspects of life. Every single Rhox is required to serve time in the military, and thus they all can join combat if necessary. They remain the strongest warriors on the plane, and almost every member of the knighthood is a Rhox. Favoring the hammer and heavy armor in battle, they wade into combat, slaying ten rebels for every Rhox that falls.

Vedalken

(They look something like this or this)

Architects of the massive enchantments that stopped the flow of mana during the Great Crusade, the Vedalken are masters of spellcraft and the most intelligent creatures on Tyranix. Mostly content to stay on the sidelines during the Great Crusade, they only became involved when it came to their cities. Unable to see any way to succeed against the forces of The Order, they pledged themselves to the First King. With the Vedalken's mastery of Æther magic at its side, The Order was unstoppable, and the forces of Chaos were driven before it. There remained only three strongholds left: the vampire's Necropolis, the elves' Life-Tree and the flamekin's volcano stronghold. It was at the volcano that the vedalken committed their first Great Sin Faced with an unending siege, they worked tirelessly to find ways to neutralize the deadly fire magic of the enemy. For this purpose they designed a terrible enchantment, able to completely block the flow of mana in an area. When they cast it, it worked beyond their wildest dreams. All mana coming from the stronghold abruptly stopped, and the volcano itself was stilled. Without their magic to sustain them, the flamekin were unable to hold back The Order's forces and fell within the week.

The vedalken repeated this act on the Necropolis, and without the necromantic forces they had come to rely on, the vampires fell within a month. This was the second Great Sin. Filled with the glory of victory, the vedalken used the same magic on the elven fortress, committing the third Great Sin as the Life-Tree itself died and the last vestige of elven resistance fell. Faced with such devastating magic, the First King decided that the vedalken could not be trusted, and forced them to cast the enchantment on their own homeland. This was the final Great Sin.

Today the vedalken are a dying race. With only a few thousand left, they find themselves bereft of purpose, most doing little more than existing and waiting for the end. However, there are a select few who wish to atone for the Great Sins. These vedalken are split into two camps, the Purifiers and the [Punishers (working name)]. The Purifiers seek to break the ancient enchantments, but they were crafted with layers of defenses that have stymied any real progress against them. The [Punishers] instead seek to lay the enchantment on The Order's greatest city, starving it of the mana it needs to keep its hold on the world. They have had more success, and expect to be able to cast the spell before the end of the year.

If you have any suggestions for the name of the Rhox prophet or for a better name for the Vedalken Punishers, leave a comment! If Blogger doesn't find the posts that I wrote about Shadowmoor sometime before next week, I'll see if I can rewrite them. Otherwise, join me Monday as I create a new plane! Artistic people take notice, cause I'd like some concept art, and post any I get. On monday I'll fill you in with some details.
