Boggarts
The key to understanding the boggarts is that Curiosity is the center of their culture. All boggarts are driven to experience everything possible. This leads to some strange results, making them appear insane to individuals of other races. The fact that they have no concept of personal property also infuriates the other races. They will take insane risks to find these new sensations, often times purposefully inflicting pain just to see how it feels. They are as devoted to sharing these experiences as they are to feeling them in the first place, leading to a surprisingly close knit community.
This sense of community, combined with their curiosity, leads to the boggart tradition of Pranks. The word is not entirely accurate, as there is no malicious intent to these actions. Instead, they are designed simply to share sensations with others. It simply doesn't occur to them that other races do not wish to experience many of these things. Of course, there are the occasional malicious boggarts, but they are by far the minority.
Apologies for the relatively small number of cards in this post - the demands of the game mean that the goblin cards are more malicious than they are portrayed in the fiction. Another note: Sensation Gorger might be my favorite goblin art in all of Magic: the Gathering.
Join me tomorrow when we talk about Giants! After that, we only have two more articles before we're done in Lorwyn. And after that? It's a mystery to all, including me. If you have any thoughts on what I should write about, let me know!
