Merrow
Merrow still use their mastery of Tideshaping and their Knowledge to their advantage. However, they no longer maintain the channels, instead allowing them to run wild and only manipulating them for personal advantage. The no longer gain knowledge from exploring the Dark Meanders, instead taking what they need from other creatures or simply erasing knowledge they don't care for. The best example of the transformation is Sygg's change from guide to pirate.
However, the merrow are no longer the only merfolk on this plane. On Shadowmoor, they are joined by the Selkie. Not as violent as the merrow, the selkie are more closely aligned with the natural world and find more use in wisdom than stolen knowledge. Closely aligned with the selkie are the Kelpie, beasts who live in the same waters as the selkie. Unintelligent creatures, they rely on their prodigious toughness to survive the cruel world of Shadowmoor.
