Shadowmoor - Goblins and Dwarves

Goblins were already varied on Lorwyn, with the boggarts having remarkably varied body types. This variety has only increased on Shadowmoor, with the boggarts being joined by hobgoblins, spriggans and redcaps.

Goblins

The boggarts return in Shadowmoor, but their desire to experience everything has shifted to a mindless Hunger. There is nothing in the world more important than food to the boggarts, and they spend every waking moment either eating or searching for their next meal. Closely related to the boggarts are Spriggans, who possess the ability to grow to an enormous size.

The most significant other kind of goblins are the hobgoblins, who tend to keep to themselves on their farms. However, they are quick to anger when someone trespasses on their land, and it is generally considered good sense to leave them alone. Finally, there is the least common goblin, the redcap, which waylay beings for the sheer joy of killing.

New to Shadowmoor are the dwarves known as duergar. Like traditional portrayals of dwarves, the duergar live underground, digging out their mines endlessly. Unlike other portrayals, many duergar never even go to the surface and dismiss it as myth. They are also as xenophobic as any other being on Shadowmoor.
