Iroas is a world of extremes. Those who live there are capable of great acts of compassion and heroism, but there is a shadow for every light.
Known as the cruelest man that ever lived, Alysida's kingdom was the dominant force on Iroas until very recently. He subjugated all who stood in his way, forcing those who resisted into slavery and committing unspeakable acts of cruelty and torture even on those who supported him. In the end, it is said that it was his advisors that ended his rule, poisoning him to death. However, it seems that he took most of his capitol city with him, as a terrible plague killed off 90% of the people who lived there.
Unknown to most, he did not die that day. He had been experimenting with the soul gems, and thought he had discovered a way to gain immortality though an elixir that contained crushed gems of each type. He found immortality, but it changed him. Now a creature tied to the shadows, his skin became pallid, while his eyes turned pure black. With a strange command over the shadows and the ability to infect others with his curse, which allowed him command over their will, he began building a new empire in the deepest shadows of the world. When the creatures he had created were discovered, they were given the name Akyros, which he happily embraced as his new title: Akyros, the Void King.
