Schools of Magic: Commander; Black

Let's talk about Black magic!

As a note, my schedule for the rest of commander is:

Thursday 6/23: Red
Friday 6/24: Green
Monday 6/27: Multicolor. I may have to split this into two days, depending on how many there are.
Tuesday 6/28 or Wednesday 6/29: Overview/Commanders.

Necromancy: Death and decay.
Sangromancy: Technically defined as blood magic, it also manipulates life force in some ways.
Lethemancy: This school is related to Blue Mind magic, but it is more focused on inflicting negative emotions and removing memories from opponents.
Umbramancy: The core school of Black magic, Shadow magic embodies the selfishness and ambition that is core to Black's personality. It is essentially Black "Elemental" magic, and demons are the signature creatures of this school.

Attrition: A good example of Necromancy.
Avatar of Woe: Probably my favorite Black creature of all time, at least partially because I learned the word "woe" from the Power Rangers, this is a fine example of Necromancy.
Buried Alive: Another obvious example of Necromancy.
Butcher of Malakir: The fact that this is a vampire makes me feel that this is Sangromancy, though there is some Umbramancy involved in the "taking you with me" style mechanic.
Dark Hatchling: While horrors tend to be Lethemancy, this spell is Necromancy because of its effects.
Diabolic Tutor: This represents a deal with a demon, making it Umbramancy.
Doom Blade: As a spell that kills creatures, no questions asked, this is Necromancy.
Dread Cacodemon: Like many powerful spells, this is a mix of multiple schools. The fact that it is a powerful demon means there is some amount of Umbramancy involved, but it is mostly Necromancy because of the widespread death it causes. There is a bit of Lethemancy attached to it, though it does hurt you.
Evincar's Justice: This spell is essentially just letting loose an uncontrolled bit of Necromancy that hurts everyone in the area.
Extractor Demon: Another powerful spell that is part of multiple schools, this is primarily Umbramancy and Lethemancy, and the Unearth ability is pure Necromancy.
Fallen Angel: A corruption of the iconic White creature, the pure expression of selfishness this shows means it is Umbramancy.
Fleshbag Marauder: Pure Necromancy!
Footbottom Feast: Bringing creatures back from the graveyard, even if it is just to the top of the library, is a Necromancy effect.
Grave Pact: Grave is in the name and it kills creatures; clearly this is Necromancy.
Gravedigger: I've looked at this creature before, and it remains Necromancy.
Hex: A powerful example of Necromancy, this is also one of the most aesthetically pleasing cards I've ever seen. Six mana, destroy six creatures, six soldiers in the art, the name means six and there are six words in the flavor text!
Living Death: Death is in the name and the art features zombies - a clear case of Necromancy.
Mortivore: Another example of Necromancy, this creature grows stronger as more creatures die.
Nantuko Husk: While sacrificing creatures for power boosts is usually Umbramancy, the flavor of this is solidly that of a zombie eating another creature, meaning this is Necromancy.
Nemesis Trap: This is a strange example of Umbramancy, mostly defined by its relationship to White. Umbramancy (aka Shadow magic) is the most opposed to White out of any school.
Nezumi Graverobber: Necromancy! Make sure to check out its flipped half for the raising the dead half of the school.
Patron of the Nezumi: Necromancy all the way, once again. Not only does it feed off death (represented by the Offering mechanic) it also uses your opponents' creatures dying to fuel a minor damaging effect.
Razorjaw Oni: A nice example of Umbramancy.
Reiver Demon: A combination of Umbramancy and Necromancy.
Rise from the Grave: One of the clearest examples of Necromancy I've ever seen.
Scythe Specter: Finally, the first new Black spell. Specters are always Lethemancy, and this is no exception.
Sewer Nemesis: Another new spell, this is a combination of Necromancy and Lethemancy.
Shared Trauma: Another new Lethemancy spell!
Shriekmaw: This is as close to a pure death elemental that you're likely going to get, making this Necromancy.
Sign in Blood: While this is clearly just another version of Diabolic Tutor, the fact that its flavor involves blood makes this Sangromancy.
Stitch Together: Another clear example of Necromancy.
Syphon Flesh: In addition to having disgusting art, this new spell is also a fine example of Necromancy.
Syphon Mind: A fun example of Lethemancy.
Unnerve: Another good example of Lethemancy.
Vampire Nighthawk: Deathtouch is often a Necromancy effect, but Lifelink and the fact that it's a vampire places this firmly as Sangromancy.
Vow of Malice: This card involves a deal with a creature, meaning it is Umbramancy. I find it interesting that (so far) each of the Vows have different ways of creating the same effect.
