Ravdos

I thought up a few more ideas for magic items, so that’s what you get today! I’m sure you were anticipating something on the lykos, but I’m still figuring out what they’re like, so you’ll have to wait! As a side note, the magical items now have the placeholder name of “ravdos,” the Greek word for wand. Hit the jump to see three common ravdoi and three rare ravdoi!

Eternal Torch: The most common ravdos, this is a piece of soul jade wrapped in a spiraling platinum cage. It simply makes the soul jade shine brighter.

Everlasting Quill: This golden quill has soul jade on the tip, and is able to write without the use of ink. It is commonly used in the Eirini guild as a simple tool of convenience.

Privacy Signet: This is a gold signet ring with the seal of the Eirini, with a soul peridot on the seal. When used to seal an envelope, it prevents any but the intended recipient from reading the contents. This does not prevent the envelope from being opened or protect the contents from damage in any way.

The General’s Table: The most complicated expression of Aspidan magic, this is a steel table with a silver surface. It also comes with a number of steel figurines, each with a soul diamond embedded in it, and a number of silver and copper amulets holding a soul opal. These amulets are distributed to the command chain of the general’s army. When activated, the surface of the table becomes a map based on the knowledge of all those wearing the linked amulets, and the figurines move automatically on the map depending on where they are. All figurines are placed correctly in comparison to other known units. It is also possible to designate some figurines as enemy units, which will move based on the amulet wearer’s knowledge of their location. This alone would make it an invaluable tool to generals, but it also allows the general to issue general commands by sliding figurines where he wishes them to march - they will immediately move back to their actual position, but the ordered route will remain on the map as a red line, and the commander wearing the amulet will simply know where he is to go. This is not mind control, and the commanders are able to interpret orders as needed. There are only two known General’s Tables in existence, belonging to the Aspidan and Alitheian nations.

Sword of the Destroyer: The most dangerous weapon in Iroas, this is a massive great sword. It’s blade was forged of steel, with strange copper designs on its surface, linking soul emeralds, rubies, diamonds, sapphires and jade. The hilt is wrapped in acid etched leather, and the pommel is the most massive soul ruby ever seen. Said to be Enkavma’s personal weapon, the enchantments laid on this blade enable any who desire bloodshed to wield it with ease, making them impossibly strong while giving their flesh the consistency of steel. It cut through armor as easily as cloth, and was said to engulf the wielder in flame during battle. Locked away in an Aspidan vault or years, it recently went missing.

Beastmaster’s Crown: Crafted from wood, this helmet completely conceals the wearer’s head. Made in the likeness of an animal, most commonly the wolf, bear or eagle, with large soul emeralds as the eyes and soul jade dotting the interior, this rare ravdos allows the wearer to transform into the chosen animal. There is also a more ornate version, incorporating more soul emeralds and spiraling platinum designs on the surface that allows the wearer to transform into a dire form of the chosen animal, which are generally two to three times larger than the actual animal and have deadlier natural weaponry. Each of the Thirian tribes has several of the lesser version and one of the dire versions.
