The Savra

The lykos have been renamed the savra! Most of the other information already written still applies. If there are any contradictions, assume that the most recent post is correct - this is a good policy in general, but please point out any mistakes I’ve made, and I’ll see if I can correct them.

In ages past, the savra were skilled architects and engineers, able to build complex machines without any magical aid, and their crowing achievement was the mountain fortress of Krepost. However, when it was destroyed in a flood of lava, their will to rule crumbled. In the ages since, they have been gradually pushed back by the spread of Iroas, always living on the very outskirts of civilization.

Unique among all the world’s races, the savres are entirely unable to use magic, regardless of its source. In the past they relied on their technical expertise to survive and even thrive, but the fall of their civilization means that they must rely on their physical might to survive.

Standing 7-8 feet tall and covered with green and brown scales, the savra resemble giant vaguely humanoid iguanas. Stronger than any normal Iroan, they are also capable climbers, able to scale trees and cliffs with ease. Despite their strength and size, they are not significantly tougher than Iroans, and they wear light leather armor in battle, as they prefer not to compromise their agility. They prefer weapons with multiple uses, like spears, chains and axes instead of dedicated weapons like swords. They are thus far the only race to have created siege weaponry that does not use magic, and crossbows are common.

There are several factions within the savres today.

The Mertvyi: These savres believe that their race is doomed anyway, so they may as well find a worthy death. Almost entirely warriors, they seek to kill as many enemies as they can before they die. Barely a faction, Mertvyi are found within many warbands, trusting others to plan where to hit their enemy.

The Iskupit: The loss of Krepost was meant to be a lesson, and the Iskupit believe it has been lost to the rest of the savra. The Iskupit believe that what they did to the Iroans in the past was sinful, and they must redeem themselves by helping the Iroans in any way possible. These savres are the ones who contact with the Thirians, trading away some of their engineering skills. Even the Iskupit are unwilling to part with the secrets behind their greatest feats of engineering, though time will tell how long this attitude lasts.

The Chainik: It is well known (among themselves) that the savra are the most intelligent race in the world, and the Chainik believe that this is going to waste. They believe that their superior technology, in the form of siege weaponry, will allow them to conquer the world, returning them to the power they once enjoyed.
