Masters of Life and Death

The mightiest warriors and greatest healers, the Lightningkin and Mossmen are the backbone of the remnants of civilization.

Lightningkin

Standing between six and seven feet tall, the Lightningkin are humanoid lions created for war. They were bred for loyalty primarily, ensuring that they would not turn on their masters, unlike some of the earlier warrior hybrids.

In addition to their impressive physical strength, the Lightningkin were granted the ability to generate electricity through the metal growths on their arms. These first appear on young ones' hands, spreading in intricate patterns as they grow. When young, this ability is limited to electrifying their own hands, but it becomes more versatile as they grow, and all Lightningkin warriors are able to electrify melee weapons, with roughly half able to electrify ranged weapons, most commonly using javelins. The greatest warriors develop the ability to project their electricity through the air without the use of weapons.

Mossfolk

As tall as the Lightningkin but much heavier and wider, the Mossfolk are intelligent gorillas with shaggy, moss-like fur. Bred as healers, the Mossfolk are able to grow sharp needles in their fur containing a potent medicinal fluid that drastically shortens healing time. Most Mossfolk are devoted to these healing arts, but it is a well kept secret that they are able to produced poison instead of medicine in these needles.

  1. Thanks! I'm not entirely satisfied with the Mossfolk - I don't think I fully explained what they are and what role they play.
