The Champions of The Order

As seen in Alive, there is more to the hierarchy of The Order than has been revealed so far. Today we'll briefly look at some of the insights revealed in that story.

Grand Inquisitors

The highest rank in The Order is reserved for those rare leaders whose wisdom is so valuable that it can not be lost, no matter the cost. These precious few undergo a secret ritual that bonds their soul to physical item, known as a phylactery, changing them into liches. This means they are immortal as long as the phylactery is intact, and they are kept in a secure vault in Caliastor. These are the Grand Inquisitors, and their word is law.

Currently there are twelve Grand Inquisitors. Eight of these are rhox, while three are human, and the last is an aven. They were once entirely aven, but the civil war ended in almost all of their deaths and the destruction of their phylacteries.

The Champions

These rhox are the personal bodyguards of the Grand Inquisitors, masters of the warhammer. They are trained to sacrifice their lives if necessary, and are taught some minor defensive magic to strengthen their combat skills. They are the mightiest single warriors on Tyranix.

Crusaders

Composed entirely of kithkin, these elite soldiers take advantage of their innate link to work together and eliminate any opposition. They are the special forces of The Order's army, able to be deployed anywhere and accomplish any goal with little or no support.
