Silva Nigra

Hybrids! I need a name for this world; should I just call it Earth? Or should I find an older word for Earth, which is what I've been doing for some of the names (today's is the Roman name for the Black Forest)

The largest forest still existing in the known world, Silva Nigra is known to be a haven for criminals and outcasts. Those who have committed the worst crimes imaginable are banished there to live among the ghosts and spirits of the past.

Because of the unique nature of the leylines that ran through here, being almost entirely undeveloped, the Purge had the opposite effect as it did in other areas; instead of destroying everything, it infused everything with life and growth. Initially this was problematic for any animals living there, as it also aided the growth of disease and cancer. Once the energy faded it became home to a wide variety of nonsentient hybrids. There are also rumors that the ghosts of those killed in the Purge congregate there, but nothing has been proven.
