Belfire's Journal

I've been playing in a game of DnD 4e for the past several weeks with my HLP Tom, and I've decided to write my character's journal.

The party (with some illustrations by Tom, to be updated as he completes more):
Belfire Duskwalker: Elf Assassin, my character! He's stealthy and likes isolating enemies so he can beat on them. He works for the Raven Queen, and has several secrets that will come out eventually.
Crina: Half-Elf Shaman, she focuses mostly on healing abilities.
Azm: Warforged Slayer, he is based around his melee basic attacks. He's also a massive racist that hates everyone except Khava because of the racism.
Khava: Dragonborn Warlord, she has a lot of abilities that grant basic attacks to her allies.
Azrael: Deva Chaos Sorceror, he has some good ranged attacks.
Nietzsche: Tiefling Warlock, she uses her Dark Pact to deal massive damage to single targets.

Those of you who know stuff about 4e will realize something - our party is horribly unbalanced. We have 4 strikers and 2 leaders, and thus don't have much in the way of longevity. So far we've only been able to do at most two encounters before taking a long rest, and it seems like it won't be long before one of us will die.

This is the initial description we were given (with some minor spelling corrections):
You wake up in a dank cell. It is dark, you don't know where you are. You look around and see several more adventurers who seem to be in the same situation. All of you look confused. Though the detail are slightly different the only thing you remember is an eruption and the ground opening with an explosion of demons coming out of the ground. In an futile attempt to save your town you rose your weapon up simply to be flung into a void that was created under your boots.

In any case, read on after the jump to discover what Belfire thinks of all these shenanigans!

Day 1

Woke up in a cell. While the other inmates were making a ruckus, I unlocked the door using a lockpick I made out of a bone, then pulled the levers to open the cells. We then worked together to kill the guards, though several of the prisoners attacked us afterwards. They didn't last long, but turned into some sort of creature that fled.

After clearing the next room of guards mostly by myself, though the Deva was a good distraction, we decided to move back into the cell block to rest.

Notes:
Khava: Female Dragonborn. Confident that she is always right, will go along with what she says until she makes a bad decision.
Azm: Warforged. Seems dismissive of everyone except Khava. Don't trust it, but not worth provoking an fight. It seems like it will follow any order Khava gives.
Crina: Female Half-Elf. Lazy, possibly hedonistic. Useful because of the spirit wolf that follows her around.
Azrael: Male Deva. Having a hard time getting a read on him. Seems useful, but use of chaotic magic suggests he is not entirely trustworthy.
Nietzsche: Female Tiefling. Oddly, can't remember much of what she did. Possible memory spell she has cast?

Day 2

Guards had massed outside the room we had cleared, and we had to fight many of them. There appear to be Warforged in charge of this prison. After the difficult battle, Khava, Azm and Crina decided to go back to the cell block to rest. Suspected Crina of laziness, did not anticipate lapse of judgement from Khava. Killed two more guards in adjacent rooms with Azrael and Nietzsche. Found a lever, decided to wait until the group has joined back up to see what it does.

Notes:
Khava: Surprising lack of foresight. Despite any precautions we could take, always safer to clear out immediate rooms before resting.
Azrael: Seems to have a decent enough grasp of tactics, useful in a fight. Chaos magic more useful against groups of enemies, but still useful against lone targets.
Nietzsche: Almost certain she did not cast any sort of memory spell. Devastating magic abilities, but overall pleasant personality.

Day 3

Woke to the noise of stupidity. Azm had pulled the lever without making any effort to finding out what it did. Opened a secret door to what appears to be the warden's office. Unclear on the very beginning of the battle, but it seems that Azm attacked guards who had not yet made any threatening movements. Perhaps there could have been a peaceful solution.

Warden and head guards were very powerful, capable of avoiding most of our attacks. After an incredibly difficult battle, moved into the office to set up camp - too weary to continue moving onward today.

Notes:
Azm: Reckless aggression may be a liability. May have to speak to Khava about keeping it on a tighter leash.
Nietzsche: Her magic is even more powerful than I had realized before, dealing an impressive amount of damage with each strike.
Crina: Despite the difficulty her wolf had in battle, her healing magic still proved valuable.

Day 4

Ventured into a secret passage in the warden's office, finding ourselves in a sewer overrun with giant rats. So far they have been little problem, though a swarm of them almost succeeded at killing me. Must thank allies for their assistance.
