Religion in Iroas

So, this will explain what a Pilgrim is from the RPG - I've changed it since then to say Pilgrim or Keeper, which is another term you will learn here.

The primary religion on Iroas is the Walker‘s Path, which is so pervasive that most Iroans don’t even give it any serious thought - it is simply what one believes in. Despite this, the Path has very little secular power. This is remarkably different from the time before the Paragons, when the Path had complete control over life in Iroas. However, the revelation of Alitheia’s ascension seriously harmed their power, as most people thought that this meant that the Walker wasn’t unique anymore, merely being the first of many Paragons. Needless to say, this caused widespread change, and today the Path venerates all the Paragons, with the Walker as the most important.

Believers congregate at temples, and all are built solidly and can function as fortresses during war time. Those who tend to the temples are known as Keepers, but they are not the primary priests of the Path as their stationary nature prevents them from truly following in the Walker’s steps. Instead it is the Pilgrims who act as the priests of the Path, and they are forbidden from staying in a single town for longer than a month. In addition, they are required to follow the Walker’s steps at least once every ten years, making a pilgrimage to each of the holy sites that the Walker liberated. Those who are unable to do this retire to one of those sites, acting as Keepers for them.

In addition to the temples, most buildings have a small shrine to one or more of the Paragons. Aspida and Alitheia are popular choices for homes, while Eirini and Nazar are frequently venerated in businesses. Shrines to Thirio are found mostly in farmland, though they are also found in any place where personal strength is necessary. Shrines to Enkavma are only found in places where violence is common.
